Enjoy the Lasting Beauty & Charm of Natural Stone Wall Cladding
You choose. Whatever style you may desire, modern or rustic, we have cladding solutions for all your design and decor requirements.
With stone wall veneer you can create the classic colonial look with split and bolstered rockface sandstone, or a clean modern look with honed face limestone, basalt or travertine. A stunning finish that will last the life of a building with little maintainence apart from being sealed and a regular clean.
Yes, you will pay a little more for stone than you will for render/paint or weatherboards etc, but you can save thousands on painting costs over the years. And your home will likely reflect a much higher dollar value and appeal, now and when you sell. Appreciation in more ways than one. After all, stone is a prestige exterior finish, and one that is truly admired by most.
Natural stone in a range of colours and textures sure to please the most discerning of decorators.
Appreciate the prestige, warmth & charm of stone for life, say goodbye to painting.
Honey sandstone wall cladding
Enjoy the warm modern look of honey sandstone, softened by the subtle sandblasted texture. Subtle veining adds to the effect.
Basalt stone is a dense material and often exhibits natural patches of holes which is reffered to as cats paws, or ant lines.
Basalt bluestone has a low porosity compared with some other stone varieties and is easly maintained. Basalt lens itself to most architectural styles from creating an industrial look through to a clean contemporay feel.
Basalt wall cladding
Sometimes basalt is referred to as bluestone due to the subtle blue hues, this suits most styles of architecture.
Rockface sandstone wall cladding
Split and bolstered finish
Sandstone, often referred to as 'Rockface', is acheived using natural split or hydrasplit sandstone, with the edges then hand bolstered all round. Typically many original colonial buildings were built from this stone finish. Rockface exhibits real texture and depth when used on a home. Generally it is more expenisve than other finishes due to the labour in the hand bolstering. Whilst it easily creates a country charm or typical colonial look it still compliments modern builds very well. Rockface sandstone is available in various shades of buff, white and honey tones.
The weight of hydrasplit sandstone is generally somewhat heavier than natural split stock, thus likely to cost more for material. Then there is the handling when it comes to installation, usually costing a little more too.
A slighly more contemporay look can be acheived by using a natutral split finish without the bolstered edges as in the picture at right here. Using different block heights adds extra appeal. This illustration is butt jointed without grout. Natural split sandstone is also used in many random freestyle patterns, with or without grout.
Whilst material cost for grout is not high the process is a little time consuming, so expect the labour cost to be a little greater.
Honed sandstone wall cladding
For a smooth clean look sandstone is lightly machine honed for external use. Not polished. Usually around 100 grit which just takes the saw marks out leaving a smooth matt finish rather than a polished one.
Honed sandstone suits both contemporary and colonial cottage architectural styles.
Available in a range of subtle plain colours, soft blended and others with distinct banding ( a natural grained or wave style colour effect). Honed sandstone wall cladding is also available in browns, greys and blacks where required.
Travertine wall cladding
Classic travertine wall cladding is hard to beat for its beauty and durabilty. It does not absorb heat like many other stone types. Hard wearing and really does not date. For exterior use mostly unfilled and tumbled due to the character and texture it exhibits. It can be both end cut as the sample on right, or grain cut. The latter having a more linear effect.
Also available is Coffee Cappuccino travertine colour and Silver Grey travertine colour, as the below swatches display.
Natural Split Quartz wall cladding
A dense stone with a mix of soft subtle greys, greens, creams and coffee tones. Texturally very pleasing with light clefts and a faiirly straight split.
Limestone Wall Cladding
A white limestone that has a consistant uniform colour with a soft feel. This limestone creates a very clean modern contemporary vibe, sure to impress. Honed finish here, but also available in antique brushed and a sandblasted finish.
Free Stone and Crazy Wall Cladding - Various Styles
Freestyle walling, or crazy pattern, or random as it is often referred to, is essentially broken stone loose sections. The cost of the material is similar to traditional wall veneer, however you should consider that the labour install cost will be significantly higher. This is due to the trades having to spend so much time selecting and adjusting/trimming stone pieces to fit neatly around each other. Whilst traditional stone veneer can also be installed via mechanical fixing, random or crazy must be chemically fixed with mortar or adhesive means.
Random stone can be left as a open jointed project, or grouted, both examples are shown on this page. Grouting generally has an extra install cost due to the extra labour required.
